Proef Amsterdam
When my sister spoke of this restaurant, she really got my attention. A restaurant, hidden right in the middle of the Westerpark in Amsterdam, which only serves home grown and organic food in an old shed with high ceilings.
I took my girlfriend there for a night out, and we were amazed. We had never seen something like this before, right next to all the party venues of the Westergas-area. The restaurant has a simple and rustic interior, but you can tell it's all been done with taste and care.
The menu was simple. As a starter we ordered a mixed platter of cold cuts of meat and fish. All very fresh and beautifully presented with some delicious dips. My favorite was the home made sausage.
The main was also a platter with all different kinds of seasonal vegetables and a choice of fish, lambsrack or vegetable quiche. We had a lovely organic wine to accompany the meal. We had our dinner inside, but when the weather is nice you can sit outside, right in the middle of all the fresh produce. After dinner, I felt like I had a healthy meal, as it should be. This is one of those hidden concepts that I hope will only be discovered by those who appreciate real quality of life.
