HARBOUR HOUSE IN CAPE TOWN

When visiting Cape Town this winter, my family and I decided to take my grandfather out for lunch.  We heard lots of stories about the terrible weather in the South African winter. Well, we had a week of blue skies and 20 degrees. It was lovely. So we decided to go out to Kalk Bay and have lunch at the Harbour House. The location alone is amazing. The restaurant is situated on the second floor and has a very rustic and clean interior, with lovely white and blue furniture. On one side, you have a great view of the harbour, where a lot is going on. The other side presents breathtaking views of False Bay.We all started with some fresh oysters. Then every one ordered their own fresh catch. Lovely tuna’s, crayfish and white fish. All very simply and deliciously prepared. I myself went for the seafood selection, just to be sure I wouldn't miss out on all the variety of fresh fish served. Harbour House has their own fishing boat and they use live bait to ensure the best catch. Obviously we had some very nice local white wine, the Sauvignon Blanc of Klein Constantia, to accompany this great meal and, of course to celebrate the beginning of our vacation. I couldn’t imagine a better start.
