ACQUA IN BASEL
Basel is a nice small city where you can have a relaxing weekend away with lots of culture, a bit of shopping and great food. Seeing that Switzerland is next to Italy, it is no surprise that Italian cuisine plays a large role here. A personal favourite is Acqua.
This restaurant is a little bit hard to fit, but when you get there you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It is near an old swimming pool which now serves as a terrace and club in the summertime. The restaurant is in one of the buildings just beside the old pool.
It is a lovely brick, industrial building with funky leather & metal seats. The chandeliers are made of forks and shine brightly. The menu is Italian with great ‘carne’ and ‘pesce’. I’ve eaten here twice and always ate too much; the food is that good. You can have a 3-5 course meal and you just specify if you want fish, meat or vegetarian and they take care of you.
