LES CINOCHES IN PARIS

Les Cinoches is a restaurant in Saint Germain de Pres, located in a former cinema. On one wall there’s a big tv screen playing an old black and white movie while you enjoy the modern French food. The wines are very good and so is the price/quality. This is a place where it’s about good food and cozyness. Nothing pretentious.

1 rue de Conde, 75006 Paris, 0143541821.

AGAPE'

If you are looking for really good food in a cantine-like atmosphere, you should get a table (or join in at the large table) at Agapé Substance, that seats about 26. The genius behind this place is David Toutain, whose resumé includes stints at L’Arpege, Mugaritz (in Spain) and Corton (NYC). His cooking style is extremely relaxed. Like a true natural he improvises, and the most exclusive dishes are prepared right before your eyes. Dinner is €99,00. There is a cryptic and basically useless menu, so just talk to the head waiter - a great guy by the way, because he knows his ingredients and their origins. Cheese is a shaving of Comté, made by the father of one the owners. Best cheese ever... Go there....

DREAMING ABOUT PARIS

This short movie of Paris is a project by Luke Shepard, a student at The American University of Paris. It's composed completely out of photographs. The images combined with the music of the XX make it feel like a dream.

DERRIèRE

Last week I was in Paris for the fashion shows and I asked a Parisian friend of mine if she could guide me to a nice trendy restaurant. That's how I ended up in Derrière, a restaurant were the young Parisians get together. At ten in the evening I started my dinner next to a ping pong table where two fashionistas were playing.
The cocktails were surprisingly good (my favorite was the ginger cocktail, which had a sharp aftertaste). The food is simple but very tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed their version of the Coquille Saint Jacques, they added some really fragrant fresh herbs to the dish.
The one thing I really adored, though, was their smoking room. One has to go through an actual closet to get to this bohemian place. It's where I spent most of my time that night, among the cool and the restless.
